How to configure separate Wi-Fi SSIDs for 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands
Netgear Router
1. Navigate to the "Basic" tab, find and click on “Wireless” settings.
2.Locate “Wireless Network (2.4GHz b/g/n)”, rename the “Network Name (SSID)” to “XXX-2.4G”, and save the changes.
3. Go to “Wireless Network (5GHz a/n/ac)”, rename the “Network Name (SSID)” to “XXX-5G”, and save the changes once again.
Asus Router
1. Enter “Advanced Settings”, find, and click on “Wireless” settings.
2. In “General Settings”, find and disable the “Enable Smart Connect” option. Save the changes to separate the 2.4G and 5G Wi-Fi SSID
3. Select the “Band” as 2.4GHz, rename the “Wireless Name (SSID)” to “XXX-2.4G”, and save the settings.
4. Select the “Band” as 5GHz, rename the “Wireless Name (SSID)” to “XXX-5G”, and save the settings once again.
Linksys Router
1. Go to the “Setup” tab, find and click on “Wi-Fi—Basic Wireless Settings”.
2. In the 2.4GHz wireless settings, rename the “Network Name (SSID)” to “XXX-2.4G”, and save the changes.
3. In the 5GHz wireless settings, rename the “Network Name (SSID)” to “XXX-5G”, and save the changes once again.
Notes: After completing the above steps, you will be able to see Wi-Fi networks named “XXX-2.4G” and “XXX-5G” on the Wi-Fi settings page of your phone.
